The Halal certification processes by our government officials are on the manufacturing process of products that are involved in the preparation process for F&B.
In our case, the certification is mainly for the filter materials used in our products, like the carbon source (raw materials like coconut shell), the polypropylene manufacturing process, etc.
This helps our F&B clients who wish to provide Halal-certified foods and drinks in their premise kitchens from all aspects, including the filtration process of water before using it in their cooking and drinks making.
We do not charge our customers or clients for the Halal certifications.
We take the initiative to certify our F&B filters as Halal for potential clients in the F&B industry who may require it.
However, the pricing for our filters remain the same before and after being certified as Halal-compliant.
Our Horeca Filters that are sold to F&B customers are bound to service contracts, and the filter units are not to be re-sold as a used unit.
We also collect back unwanted filters if our customers decide to stop using the filters due to renovation, closures, etc.
For the certification of Halal, Jakim and the governing bodies have their SOPs and criteria to examine and inspect.
This can include the manufacturing process, assemble process, the materials used, the machinery used, etc.
We adhere to the SOPs and criteria laid out by Jakim so that our products can be used by our Muslim friends without having to worry.
Our Malaysian Halal Certification process doesn’t require that there should be no Non-Muslims at all in the manufacturing process. (for more details do refer to our official government’s guideline: http://www.halal.gov.my/v4/index.php ).
In fact, Data from Jakim in 2019 has reported that 60 pct of producers with halal certs are non-Muslims (https://www.malaysiakini.com/news/490998 ).
The water source of the respective premises or area provided by the municipal councils is not under our jurisdiction.
However, what we do is we make sure the process of manufacturing, assembly, and materials used in our filters are Halal-compliant to cater for all types of restaurants and F&B outlets, where the Halal requirement may be more stringent.
Our Horeca filters are JAKIM Halal-certified, and the water quality is also tested and certified by SIRIM.
We take these steps to ensure that our customers, mainly restaurants and F&B providers, can be rest-assured that they serve drinks that are fully compliant to the requirements of our governing body.
